Bearcats C Wins Their Opener!

My adult hockey team played its opening game for the summer and we started in grand fashion with a 2-0 win. We had star performances from our latest goaltending acquisition, Scott, and our two lady centers, Erin and Britney. Scott has played a handful of times for us and we hope to make him a regular with games like last night’s. Britney is new to the team but has a season or two of men’s league experience with the Swedish Fish. Both centers worked hard to play offense and defense and were great in our own slot at cutting off scoring chances. The game remained tied 0-0 for almost the entire length when Katie Keeports and Erin McAuliffe combined hard work and communication to net the first goal of our season with about 4 minutes left. After that the Bearcats tried to tighten it up to finish strong and Ross Bickhart scored on an empty net with about a minute left. Solid defensive play and teamwork earned us a good win to start off.
Last night I bought the Square-Enix iPod game, Song Summoner for $5. I got through the intro and created several characters before hockey. I’m going to check out some actual mission combat in a little bit.
This Friday I plan to stay after work and hang out with some friends on a Wilmington Art Loop. The city is trying to revitalize the lower market area and the general artsy-ness of the city with these sort of coordinated parties. One of my fellow hockey players, who will teach at DCAD, will be showing off some stuff, which I can’t wait to check out.
And later that night I pick up Lynners from Philly for the weekend!
